and treatment will be personalized according to the diagnosis.
Q.
What kind of problems do people come in with?
A. Neuromusculoskeletal related complaints such as low back pain, neck pain,
whiplash due to motor vehicle accidents, sports-related injuries, sprains
and stains, etc. In addition, Dr. Watson specializes in non-surgical approaches
to scoliosis as well as golf-related injuries.
Q.
When do you use ice or heat?
A. For the first 24 hours after an injury, ice is appropriate. If the site
of injury involves the extremities, you would ice for 10 minutes on, 20 minutes
off, reapply for 10 minutes. Repeat this cycle in 2 hours while awake. This
controls the body's initial response to the injury (i.e., inflammation) and
moist heat becomes appropriate when the swelling becomes reduced, applying
the same time protocol. Common sense always prevails. If it feels better within
2 hours, you are doing the right thing.
